That ominous day today when the 13th day of the month falls on a Friday. From memory and without looking it up I remember reading that it harks back to when King Philip IV (OK I looked that up) ordered the arrest of Jacques de Molay and the rest of the of the Knights Templar. Overnight they were rounded up and subsequently tried and killed en masse leading not only to the end of the holy warriors but also the beginning on many legends. It is amazing how much of today's life is connected to the past. The one that always sticks with me was finding out in my youth that "Ring around the rosie" related to the black death- very apt today. There was also a game involving paper folded over and held in the hand which relates back to an ancient cipher. It's fair to say that history has a lot to teach us and still holds a lot of interest.
Alas all the good stuff is in the past with not a lot happening in the present. Maybe on a day like today that is a good thing.
