The long road
Thankfully the school holidays are over and some sort of routine is starting to take shape again. I've had a difficult time of it. Nothing to do with anxiety, just one of those things. It has passed but it had a real impact on my walks and my anxiety. Its been like starting over really. I don't seem to have the energy or inner strength to push out in the same way I was. Aside from the problems it has been two weeks without CBT which I can see is also having an adverse effect. I did though restart that last week.
The frustrating thing is we were getting out before I hit problems. We had some really good walks far from home. The pic above is from a day where we had two walks. After a good one during the day I suggested in the evening we went for another. So we did down to Bothwell Castle and then a walk along side the river. It was a beautiful night.
We had so much more planned. And then it was gone. So now I must start over and just keep at it. Signs have been there of improvement and that is what I cling to. Sometimes life has other ideas but that must be accepted. Around about that I must just keep pushing.

Down to the woods
In an age of electronics where every kid has their face stuck in a tablet, phone and/or console its nice to see an appreciation for the simple things. There are things around us that don't cost money. They are just there. And in an age where most would rather than go to the bother building the cinema of a book in their own head and instead go to a multiplex to watch it played out for them in 3D while their imagination dies its lovely to see the imagination to put use and appreciated.
On Friday I took the kids out for a walk, another walk. As simplistic as the previous one was with the girls they loved it. Genuine appreciation and excitement which is probably some way down to how little their father does with them. Again on Friday with another walk. This time down to the woods where I thought they may find some things of interest outwith the odd bit of Buckfast and graffiti.
We went down the woodlands. Broken trees, massive trees. A river. An aquaduct. An abandoned house. Ruins. Paths. Etc.
