Although Autumn begin a while back it was only today that it felt like it had really arrived. All the leaves from all the trees in all the towns and cities appear to have fallen over night. Its like someone gave it a shake and all the bright colours floated from on high to the ground. Beautiful. And when the wind kicked up and the swirl of yellows and reds and browns circled the dog went proper mad chasing them here, there and everywhere.
But he is a powerful little thing and he chased one cluster over a knee high brick wall in a bound. It was like slow motion as he glided and soon I followed in a sort of run ready to attempt a less glamorous vault with a step over. It never quite happened. As I raised my leg he tugged the lead and my knee crashed into the top of the wall. From the top of my shin to bottom of my knee is a big cut and a lot of swelling. It's fair to say the joy ended in that moment. I'm still able to take the dog out for short walks but my long solo walks are ended for some time to come unfortunately.
