" Perimeter "
Today was the first time in a while I tested my boundaries and as I feared they are smaller than I would like. I found a spot in the woods a few years back where no one seemed to go and introduced my wife to it. When we got the dog it seemed the perfect place to take him. We don't have a garden and are surrounded by busy roads so he does not get off the lead. Down in that spot though with a 30 foot training lead he can run about virtually free. We are greatful to have it. That said though we have not been down for a couple of months for various reasons.
So we ventured down there today. Its only a mile from home but even at that I was not sure if I'd get all the way there. I was right, I didn't. I was helped by the near monsoon weather. No one around. Just us. Rain calms me. But even at that I started to get more and more anxious the further I went. Finally I stopped, waved off the family and returned home. Not good but expected. If I have any positive from it then it's that as anxious as I was it was not as bad as expected.
It's a start. I expect again the more I do it the easier it will get and the further I will go. I just need to be patient and in time I'll be joining in rather than waving off. When I got home the rest were not far behind. Due to lockdown the way into our special area had become overgrown with nettles and the like to the point they could not get through. Might need a machete next time or a big pair of shears.
