212 Dog day

" Dog day "

My wife's workplace remains in lockdown so she has not been at work for over a month. She has though also been on the bank for the same care company as my daughter. Today she had her first shift for a while. A tiny bit of normality except for the home schooling.

What it reminded me was just how attached our dog is too her, more so than anyone else. My wife thinks I am his anchor due to me being his constant companion and main walker. The former was more the case pre-covid when my wife's work was in full flow and when she took the kids up north for the weekend leaving me and doggy. But I have always maintained he is closest to her and I am glad of that. The image in my mind is that first day when a scared little pup clinged to her and would not let go. First contact, never forgotten.

And so doggy was out of sorts today. Its been a while since he'd been parted from my wife and it visibly agitated him. He barked at nothing and spent long periods at the window awaiting her return. For all his problems that bond grows and hopefully will be what sees him right in the end.
