"Rain"
The summer so far here has been a washout and today in particular was a very wet one. It has been miserable chucking it down all day long. Hard to believe in a few days time July will be in the past and a few weeks later the kids will be going back to school. That will be weird.
School will be weird for everyone. My oldest girl left high school last year. The boy starts high school this year. After so many years it will be strange to never venture near the primary again. That though is nothing compared to how it will be for the kids. No one knows what a school day will look like when they return. No one knows if it will even last. Some strange times ahead.
And with lockdown gradually coming to an end it would have been nice for the kids to have some proper summer days behind them but looks unlikely. I heard someone talking on the radio about the same age as me reminiscing about long hot summers. That is how I remember them but I wonder now if its selective memory. The long distant past always appears a better place than the present for most.
