Slow start

I don't know about anyone else's start to 2015 but my own has been incredibly slow. I don't seem to have the same drive of the past 2 years. Maybe its the weather. We were so lucky over the winter months at the end of 2014 with the weather being pretty mild but this January has been so bitter. The cold I can just about take normally but the ice underfoot I really hate.

I've not been doing much in general to be honest apart from the jaunt on the buses. I was hoping that would kickstart me into doing new things but it hasn't and then this week it has all gone to pot. All 3 kids have been off school all week with a winter bug, not a nice one. Its a strange one because for all they have been very ill my wife and I have been worse. Its usually the other way about. It seemed to come in stages and I was 48 hours behind my wife. So when she was complaining of feeling so ill on Sunday I was, to be honest, thinking she was just not handling it as well as I was. That was until Tuesday when it really hit and its so long since I felt that bad. As much as I hate pills and have not taken any other than Antibiotics for a number of years I even surrendered to Neurofen to keep my temperature down. My wife is a bit obsessed with the thermometer and given my problems I would not let her use it on me fearing news I didn't want to hear so instead went with the pills.

It really has been a horrendous wee. It makes me realise just how lucky we have been as I cannot remember the last time I felt so bad with a bug and now at least for all of us it seems to be on the turn. A slow start to the year has been made even slower. The kids will return to school next week but my youngest daughter will still have to go to the GP as her cough has got worse rather than better. But if we can get them all back to school and get clear of this bug ourselves then we might start getting somewhere near to normality again. Its a concern though as I have not been out the front door for a week and know that when I finally do, probably the school run on Monday, I am going to find it very hard. If nothing else this bug has sapped us of all strength.

I should also note it was my son's 7th birthday today. Thankfully the people who were coming came earlier in the week so there were no visitors today. Also with them all being off and on the mend he got to play with the presents he got rather than having to go through 6 hours of school first which is usually the case. Tonight we had, as is tradition, a take-away but for the first time I can remember I didn't have anything. My appetite is still there but I find the way I am feeling means I am eating less so did not want to waste more money than we needed too.

Roll on the rest of the year.
