Down to the woods
In an age of electronics where every kid has their face stuck in a tablet, phone and/or console its nice to see an appreciation for the simple things. There are things around us that don't cost money. They are just there. And in an age where most would rather than go to the bother building the cinema of a book in their own head and instead go to a multiplex to watch it played out for them in 3D while their imagination dies its lovely to see the imagination to put use and appreciated.
On Friday I took the kids out for a walk, another walk. As simplistic as the previous one was with the girls they loved it. Genuine appreciation and excitement which is probably some way down to how little their father does with them. Again on Friday with another walk. This time down to the woods where I thought they may find some things of interest outwith the odd bit of Buckfast and graffiti.
We went down the woodlands. Broken trees, massive trees. A river. An aquaduct. An abandoned house. Ruins. Paths. Etc.
